Working together

Working Together with FamiliesAt Riverhead Preschool, we believe that families and educators working together create the strongest foundation for children's learning, development and wellbeing.Parents and carers are their child's first educators, and we greatly value the knowledge, experiences and insights that families share with us. Open communication helps us understand each child fully and provide experiences that support their individual interests, strengths and next steps.

To help us share and celebrate your child's learning journey, we use Tapestry, a secure online learning journal that allows us to record, reflect on and share children's experiences and achievements.Through Tapestry, families can see the wonderful moments that take place during their child's time at Riverhead Preschool, including observations, activities, milestones and special achievements. Parents can also contribute by sharing experiences from home, adding comments, photographs and updates about their child's interests, successes and learning. This two-way communication helps us build a complete picture of each child and strengthens the connection between home and preschool. We also encourage families to share information about their child's routines, interests, celebrations and experiences, as these details help us create meaningful learning opportunities and provide the best possible support.

At Riverhead Preschool, we see families as an important part of our community. By working together, we can help every child feel valued, confident and excited about their learning journey.

The key person approach

At Riverhead Preschool, every child is supported by a dedicated Key Person who helps them feel safe, happy and confident from their very first day.

Your child's Key Person will get to know their interests, personality and individual needs, providing care, encouragement and support throughout their preschool journey.

They will work closely with you, sharing your child's achievements, learning and development, while ensuring you are always involved in their progress.

By building strong relationships with both children and families, our Key Persons create a nurturing environment where every child feels valued, secure and ready to thrive.

Setling your child at Riverhead Preschool

Starting preschool is a big milestone for children and families, and we understand that every child will experience this transition in their own way.

We believe that children settle best when they feel safe, secure and supported. Our team aims to work closely with families to make the transition into preschool as positive and gentle as possible.

Before your child starts, we encourage you to spend time getting to know our setting, our team and our daily routines.

During the settling-in period, we aim to provide reassurance, encouragement and support, allowing your child to build trusting relationships and gradually become familiar with their new environment.

We will always work in partnership with you, recognising that you know your child best and that together we can help them develop a happy and positive connection with preschool.
